SOMS PTA receives Membership Award

SOMS PTA is honored to receive a membership award from New York State PTA for the 2016/2017 year. Membership awards were handed out by NYS PTA Representatives at Central Hudson Region’s recent Annual Presidents and Principals’ Dinner.

From the Central Hudson Region: “The ‘Building a Better Community’ award is given to units that have shown that they look outside of the immediate educational structure to the wider community for inspiration, education, mentorship, and hope. These PTA units reach out to their communities and bring in members that are neither parents, teachers nor students, but still feel that they are stakeholders in the education and well-being of all children. To receive this award, at least 10% of a unit’s total membership are not parents, teachers or students in their school. Politicians, local business owners, clergy or any private citizen who feels that adding their voice to support the PTA’s efforts in their community are welcome.”
SOMS PTA wishes to thank the members of the South Orangetown Community who joined and volunteered with SOMS PTA during the 2016/2017 year.  Your dedication to serving the youth of the South Orangetown Middle School makes a difference every day. From the bottoms of our hearts, thank you for your support!
